How to Identify Your Grammer Seat Model

How to Identify Your Grammer Seat Model

Why Knowing Your Grammer Seat Model Matters

Grammer produces dozens of seat models across agricultural, construction, and material handling equipment. Ordering the wrong seat — or the wrong suspension kit — is a costly mistake. Before you buy, you need to confirm your exact model number.

Step 1: Locate the Grammer ID Tag

Every Grammer seat has a model identification label. Look for it in one of these locations:

  • Underside of the seat pan — flip the seat forward and check the metal frame beneath the cushion
  • Back of the backrest — on the lower rear panel, often near the lumbar adjustment
  • Side of the suspension housing — on air-ride models, check the plastic housing on the left or right side

The label is typically a white or silver sticker with a barcode and alphanumeric model number.

Step 2: Decode the Model Number

Grammer model numbers follow a structured format. Here's how to read them:

  • MSG — indicates a Grammer MSG-series seat (most common in agricultural and construction)
  • Numbers after MSG — indicate the seat series and suspension type (e.g., MSG75, MSG85, MSG95)
  • Suffix letters — indicate features like air suspension (A), mechanical suspension (M), heated seat (H), or armrests (GL)

Example: MSG95AL/722 = MSG95 series, air suspension, with armrests, seat 722.

Step 3: Cross-Reference with Your Equipment

Once you have the model number, confirm it matches your equipment's OEM seat spec. Common Grammer fitments include:

  • Ag Tractors — MSG83, MSG85, MSG93, MSG95 series
  • Compact Tractors / Mowers — MSG65, MSG75, MSG83, MSG85 series
  • Forklifts and telehandlers — Primo and Compacto series
  • Construction equipment — Actimo and Maximo series

Can't Find the Tag?

If the label is worn or missing, you can often identify the seat by:

  • Counting the mounting bolt pattern (2-bolt vs 4-bolt base)
  • Measuring the bolt mounting width and length, and suspension travel
  • Checking your equipment's OEM parts manual for the original seat part number
